Auburn University Hires Hugh Freeze as Head Football Coach
Former Liberty Head Coach Named to Lead Auburn Tigers

Auburn University has announced the hiring of Hugh Freeze as the 31st head coach of the Auburn Tigers football team. Freeze, who most recently led Liberty University to a 10-1 record in 2022, replaces Bryan Harsin, who was fired on October 31st.
Freeze has a career record of 116-48 as a head coach, including a 34-15 mark at Liberty and an 82-33 record at Ole Miss. He led Ole Miss to three New Year's Six bowl games and won the SEC West Division championship in 2015.
Freeze's hiring comes after a six-week search by Auburn athletic director John Cohen. Cohen said Freeze was the "perfect fit" for the Auburn program due to his winning record, his experience in the SEC, and his ability to develop quarterbacks.
