Brooklyn Nets Sign Nerlens Noel to 10-Day Contract
Brooklyn Nets Add Depth with Former All-Star
The Brooklyn Nets have signed veteran center Nerlens Noel to a 10-day contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Noel, 29, is a seven-year NBA veteran who has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New York Knicks. He was an All-Star in 2017 and has averaged 7.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for his career. The Nets have been looking for a backup center since Andre Drummond was traded to the Chicago Bulls in February. Noel is expected to fill that role behind starter Nic Claxton.
Noel's signing is a low-risk move for the Nets, who are currently 35-34 and in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. If he plays well, they could sign him to a longer-term deal. If not, they can simply let his contract expire after 10 days.
