Arsenal Women Begin WSL Title Defence with Hard-Fought Victory over Everton

A hard-fought victory for the Gunners

Arsenal Women started their WSL title defence with a narrow 2-1 victory over Everton Women, with goals from Caitlin Foord and Beth Mead securing the points for Jonas Eidevall's side.

The Gunners made a strong start to the game and took the lead through Foord's close-range finish in the ninth minute. Everton responded well and equalised through Izzy Christiansen's header in the 24th minute. However, Arsenal regained the lead just before half-time through Mead's stunning strike from the edge of the area.

Arsenal controlled much of the second half and came close to extending their lead on several occasions. However, they were unable to find a third goal and had to settle for a 2-1 victory.

The victory was a hard-fought one for Arsenal, but it was an important result for the Gunners as they look to retain their WSL title. Everton, meanwhile, will be disappointed with the result, but they can take heart from their performance and will be looking to bounce back in their next game.
